Introduction
Linux is a free open-source operating on Unix. It's different then the Windows and Mac OSX operating system because it is freely distributed. Even though it is free it brings a lot of functionality to the computer, and with it's growing market, the ability to play MMORPG's is growing as well.
Linux Distributions
People may claim they have the best Linux distribution for gaming, but in the end it's about preference. Here's a link to a list of Linux distros. Linux Distributions
Emulation
Cedega (formerly known as WineX) has had successful runs of other MMORPG's, for example, City of Heroes, World of Warcraft, and Anarchy Online.
Here's a full list of MMORPG's that Cedega should be able to run.

World Of Warcraft Under Linux
As of right now World of Warcraft will only run with the Wine application. Feel free to update this with more information.
Something worth adding is that Codeweavers (http://www.codeweavers.com) offers a commercial program for Linux, called CrossOver Games ($39.95), that allows easy installation and usage of several Windows-compatible games including, of course, World of Warcraft. This software is, essentially, a front-end for Wine but adds a lot of functionality and user-friendliness. This software is easy enough to use that most novices should have no problem getting World of Warcraft (or any other game on the compatibility list) up and running. If you have decided to give Linux a shot but aren't ready to give up your Windows games, I highly recommend this product. Something else worth noting is that, unlike Cedega, there is no monthly fee to use CrossOver Games.
